Pamela Anderson's no makeup look has been setting the internet and style world ablaze.
She first premiered her nude faced look at Paris Fashion Week 2023.
Demure and mindful, under an elegant black hat and swathed in couture, Pamela's fresh- faced natural look cut through the endless layers of artifice and decadence we have come to expect from such rituals.
Quite simply, she and her real face were a gust of fresh air.
At fifty seven, Pamela has come to own her true self, as she told Drew Barrymore recently on Drew's talk show.
"For years, I felt like I was playing a character to compensate for my shyness," she explained. " I wanted to finally just be myself. I have nothing to prove."
I can relate.
Pamela and I are the exact same age. I have the exact same birthday as her- July 1, 1967. It's also the same birthday (though not year) as Princess Di, Debbie Harry
(aka Blondie), gender bending writer George Sand, and comedian Dan Akroyd.
I have always liked Pamela, even when her her looks were over the top. I thought she was great at pricking the bubble of celebrity with her unpretentious siliness. She served over- the- top cartoonishness with a wink and a dose of latex.
But to be honest, most of her looks were a little....cringe. Especially as time went on. What had looked cheeky in the nineties looked weird in the aughts.
Like many, I was both relieved and pleasantly surprised to see her unveil her real face, and a more modern look, in Paris.
Relieved because it was authentic.
Pleasantly surprised because she was so real.
People have been calling Pam brave. (I am getting used to being called brave for being myself these days.) It is as though just being a woman in midlife is a colossal act of courage. And you know what? It kind of is.
We are criticized and judged, evaluated and condemned. If we do Botox, we are criticized. If we don't, we are pitied, asked why we are letting ourselves Often we are passed over or ignored where we used to be celebrated.
Luckily, there is another way. The way of balance, mindful health and wellness. Face yoga.
In authencity, we cast off the onus of trying to look airbrushed. We reject the mask of AI imagery in favor of something more powerful, and far more beautiful: being our human selves. How powerful. How refreshing.
This is where face yoga comes in.
Facial exercises are central, as are acupressure, gua shua and facial massage. Then there is the yoga part: balance, serenity, acceptance and simplicity.
By practicing face yoga, we confidently step forward as our true, unvarnished selves. We are real, confident and brave enough to say no to unrealistic beauty expectations while embracing the more enduring beauty of authenticity and facial health.
Train with us and discover how you can let go of the mask of artificiality to discover your true self. Like a butterfly emerging from the chrysalis, it's never to late to break out of your shell and become your best self. Your radiance may surprise you.
Going barefaced doesn't mean we've given up. I know for myself, I feel I have a long way to go and many years ahead in which to feel good, healthy, and yes, beautiful. And I choose the middle path, a path in which I practice face yoga and occasionally apply a pop of red lipstick or some extra lustrous lashes. I will always reserve the right to wear a little makeup because it gives me joy.
